We are back at Huckletree D2 once again on Wednesday 1 August for the sixth Data Science Ireland meetup with yet another great line-up of speakers.
Our meetup has been growing well over the past four months as we invite some of the best technologists and data science to deliver thought-provoking insights to our members. It is also an excellent opportunity to catch-up with fellow peers and expand your network within the Irish Data Science and AI community.
First up on the evening, the CTO and founder of Artomatix Eric Risser will deliver his presentation “A.I. Disrupting the Future of Content Creation for Games.” Eric will introduce the academic theory and history behind Creative AI and delves into specific use cases and applications such as Texture Synthesis, Material Enhancement, Hybridization and Style Transfer.
Artomatix is the global leader in using artificial intelligence to automate the art creation process. Artomatix uses Creative AI to help automate many of the mundane, tedious and repetitive tasks artists and designers face every day which in turn creates time for artists, by providing a suite of tools for a 10X faster, better workflow.
After Eric’s talk, we have the co-founder and Project Lead of The M Tank Dan Flynn who will present his talk entitled “Progress, bottlenecks and barriers: A wander through the AI landscape.” Dan will be discussing public perceptions around AI, the pace of technological advancements and some of the challenges that we may face with AI going forward. He will also discuss his work with both The M Tank and in the technology start-up space; expect anecdotes and graphs.
The M Tank is a non-partisan organisation that works solely to recognise the multifaceted nature of AI research and to highlight key developments within all sectors affected by these advancements. Through the creation of unique resources, the combination of ideas and their provision to the public, this project hopes to encourage the dialogue which is beginning to take place globally.
Our final presenter at our August meetup will be our very own Mark Kelly who is the founder of AI Ireland. If you don’t know by now, AI Ireland is a non-profit community devoted to promoting Artificial Intelligence in Ireland. Through the use of the AI Awards, it is our aim to increase public awareness of AI and bring academia and industry together to showcase the excellent work done on in AI, Machine Learning and Data Science in Ireland.
After interviewing over 50 guests for the AI in Action podcast and over 60 formal interviews with leading professionals in the industry, Mark will share some of his key findings from the podcasts and how Ireland can set up a hub for AI investment. He will also share his inspiration to set up AI Ireland and what we can learn from other countries around the world who have developed a national strategy in Artificial Intelligence.
The meetup will once again take place at Huckltree D2, located downstairs in The Academy which is across from the Trinity College Dublin Science Gallery on Pearse Street on Wednesday the 1st of August at 6pm. If this sounds like the meetup for you, then sign up now and make sure to RSVP on our meetup page before all the spots are gone.
