AI Awards: FAQ for Applicants

Thinking of applying for the AI Awards? Here’s a quick run-through of our most frequently asked questions about the application and nomination process, and questions about the awards ceremony.

1. Who is eligible to participate in the Irish AI Awards?

The Irish AI Awards are open to any company with a presence on the island of Ireland, individuals working in Ireland or Irish individuals working abroad. Applications lacking an Irish connection will not be considered.

2. What are the rewards for winners?

Winners will receive a custom-designed Award statue by PromoCraft and will gain exposure in national media outlets such as RTE, Silicon Republic and The Irish Times. There is no cash prize.

3. How much does it cost to enter?

It is FREE to submit an application to the AI Awards. However, if you are shortlisted, there will be a cost to purchase tickets to attend the awards ceremony.

4. How can I apply to the AI Awards?

Simply go to https://aiawards.ie/award-categories/, click on the category you would like to apply for and fill out the application form provided.

5. When do applications open?

Applications are now open to apply for the 2025 AI Awards.

6. What is the application deadline?

The deadline to apply is 11pm on Monday, 1 September.

7. How many categories can I apply to?

There is no restriction on the number of categories you can apply to.

8. What makes a strong application?

A strong application clearly outlines the problem being solved, the AI technologies used, the impact or results achieved, and what makes the solution innovative. Use concise, non-technical language where possible, and back up claims with evidence (metrics, graphs, data etc).

9. Can I save my progress and return to the application later?

The form must be completed in one session. It is recommended to draft your answers offline and copy them into the form when ready to submit.

10. Is there a word count limit for applications?

Yes, each question on the application form has a maximum 500 word limit. Please adhere to these limits to ensure fairness across all submissions. 

11. Can I include links or attachments in my application?

You may include URLs to supporting content such as demos, videos, or reports. Ensure all links are active and accessible (e.g. no login required). Attachments can also be uploaded through the application form but there is a maximum of a 5 file upload.

12. Is there anything else I should submit with my application?

Yes, please submitted a high quality PNG or JPG image of your company logo which will be used for promotional purposes if shortlisted. For leadership or student awards, you should also included a headshot or profile picture.

13. Can I nominate someone else?

Yes, you can nominate someone else but please ensure you have their permission. When filling in the form, enter the nominee’s name and contact details.

14. Can international teams apply if part of the project is based in Ireland?

Yes, international teams can apply as long as the project or team has a demonstrable connection to Ireland (e.g., a registered office, Irish-based collaborators or Irish leadership).

15. Can I apply again if I was a previous nominee or winner?

Yes, past nominees and winners are welcome to apply again with either updated projects or new initiatives.

16. Should I include sensitive data in the application?

It is advised not to share confidential information or data. However if this is crucial to your application, please email liam@aiawards.ie before finalising your submission.

17. Can I update my application after making a submission?

You can edit or resubmit your application up until the deadline. To do so, either re-upload the updated version through the application form or email liam@aiawards.ie with the requested changes.

18. How many stages are there in the application process?

The judging process is currently being reviewed for 2025. Check back for updates in the coming weeks.

19. How are nominees and winners selected?

All applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges based on defined criteria over a 2-3 week period in September. The successful nominees will be announced no more than a week after the judges have made their decision.

20. Who are the judges?

Judges are volunteers and are carefully selected by the team at AI Ireland. Judges will be revealed at a later date.

21. When will I know if my application has been successful?

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their submission before the public announcement of nominees.

22. Are there any pre-ceremony requirements for nominees?

Each successful nominee will be required to provide a 60-90 second video outlining their application. These videos will be shown to attendees at the awards ceremony.

23. When and where is the Awards Ceremony?

The 2025 awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 18th of November at Anantara The Marker Dublin. It is a morning-to-afternoon event from 8:30am until 2pm.

24. Is it free to attend the awards ceremony?

No, attendance is not free. The awards ceremony is a ticketed event and all proceeds go directly toward covering event costs. AI Ireland does not profit from ticket sales.

25. How do I get tickets for the awards ceremony?

All tickets must be bought through Eventbrite and must be shown at registration.

26. What is the dress code for the event?

The event is a smart casual dress code.

27. Can I attend the event even if I’m not a nominee?

Yes, anyone with a valid ticket is welcome to attend the AI Awards ceremony, regardless of whether they have submitted an application or are nominated.

28. Can I come to the awards ceremony without a ticket?

No. All attendees – including nominees, judges, sponsors must register via Eventbrite before the event. If you arrive without a ticket, you will be denied entry.

29. Will the event be available online?

No, this is an in-person event only.

30. Are there any post-ceremony requirements for winners?

Yes, winners will be required to participate in a short video after the ceremony.
