About the Sponsor – AIM Centre

The AIM Centre (Advancing Innovation in Manufacturing) is Ireland’s national centre of excellence for applied artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing. Located in the repurposed former Sligo Fire Station in the heart of Sligo town, the Centre officially opened its doors in February 2024, providing a collaborative environment for up to 80 innovators.

Our mission is to empower businesses, particularly manufacturing SMEs, to harness the transformative power of AI and digital technologies. By fostering a culture of innovation and technological fluency, the Centre aims to ensure that the West and North-West regions not only keep pace with but lead in the evolving manufacturing landscape.

Key initiatives at the AIM Centre include:

  • National AI Studio: Ireland’s first dedicated AI Studio for manufacturing, offering hands-on demonstrations of AI applications in predictive maintenance, energy optimisation, and quality control. The Studio also features a travelling component to bring AI technologies directly to businesses across Ireland.
  • AI Accelerator Programme: A six-week hybrid programme designed to help SMEs adopt AI for growth, efficiency, and innovation. The programme addresses both the technical and strategic aspects of AI adoption, ensuring participants are equipped to integrate AI effectively into their business operations.

The AIM Centre operates under four strategic pillars:

  • AIM Advisory: Providing expert guidance to de-risk technological change and understand the return on technology investments.
  • AIM Exchange: Facilitating collaboration between industry leaders, researchers, and start-ups through events and training programmes.
  • AIM Talent: Cultivating expertise in robotics, IoT, and AI to strengthen regional skills and competitiveness.
  • AIM Spaces: Offering flexible and collaborative environments for innovators, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

Funded by Enterprise Ireland through the Border Enterprise Development Fund (BEDF), Sligo County Council, and the Atlantic Technological University (ATU), the AIM Centre is a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at driving digital transformation in Ireland’s manufacturing sector.
